Big data

Enorme datamængder, der kan bruges til at gøre processer mere datadrevne. Formålet er at forstå, udvikle, effektivisere og forbedre en virksomheds forretning samt at styre forbrug, adfærd, forebygge sygdomme m.m. i et samfund. Definitionen på Big data er mange - her et uddrag:

OECD: “(...) a set of techniques and tools used to process and interpret big data that are generated by the increasing digitisation of content, greater monitoring of human activities and the spread of the Internet of Things (IoT).”

Gilchrist: “vast amounts of unstructured data as well as M2M (machine to machine) sensor data from thousands or more devices.”

Zhong: “With an aggressive push toward the Internet and IoT technologies, data is becoming more and more accessible and ubiquitous in many industries, resulting in the issue of big data (...). Big data typically stems from various channels, including sensors, devices, video/audio, networks, log files, transactional applications, the web, and social media feeds (...). Under these circumstances, a “big data environment” has gradually taken shape in the manufacturing sector.”
